Swim School Hygiene

We pride ourselves on presenting our customers with a pleasant environment in which to learn to swim. For this reason out schools are well maintained and thoroughly cleaned before every Learn to Swim session. We even have our own Pool Maintenance Manager who is responsible for maintaining our facilities.

UV Treatment

Our Swim Schools are equipped with modern UV Treatment Systems ensuring the best quality environment for your child to swim in.

As State Swim continually improves the quality of our Swimming Schools, we have recently installed state of the art and environmentally friendly water purification systems that mean fresher and cleaner water without the overpowering smell of chlorine.

Ultra Violet light is similar to using the rays of the sun for water purification. The method has no chemicals, presents no danger to use and is the most natural of methods to help purify the water.

UV Systems are used extensively in water treatment plants throughout the world, especially in Europe.

The UV System will not eliminate the use of chlorine totally, as under our health regulations we are still required to maintain a certain level of chlorine at all times. However, the use of UV does reduce the level of a chlorine by-product Chloromines, which is evident in chlorinated water to a very large degree. By eliminating Chloromines, the UV system greatly reduces if not totally eliminates that familiar chlorine smell evident in many indoor swimming pools. Chloromines are also responsible for the sore eyes and skin irritations that some people experience.

For Swimmers, this means:

• More gentle on babies' skin
• No more red eyes and/or skin irritations
• Better environment for asthmatics
• Water clarity is improved and is fresher and cleaner
• Reduced wear and tear on bathers
• Less use of chemicals means it's better for the environment

The UV water purification system kills bacteria by short-wave ultraviolet light, minimising the use of harsh chemicals and disinfectants. As the water passes through the treatment chamber the UV system instantly destroys contaminants, bacteria, germs, viruses and organic pollutants.

Until recently swimming pool operators have had little choice but to use traditional chlorine disinfection systems. The UV water purification system has proved that ultraviolet treatment with low levels of chlorine has major benefits over any of these traditional methods.

This installation represents a large investment by State Swim in ensuring that we continue to provide the very best in all aspects of our facilities and our education program.

Swimming Lesson Pool Water Monitoring

The water in our Swim Schools is tested up to 6 times per day using the latest Photometer Water Testing Equipment. This helps to ensure that our swim schools are not only comfortable to swim in, but meet with the strictest of health guidelines.

Pool Heating

The pools are heated to 32 degrees to ensure swimmers comfort during swimming classes, to be able to do this efficiently we use specially designed for the Aquatic Industry Heat Pumps. By using Heat Pumps as opposed to Gas or Electric Elements Heaters we can heat the water to exactly 32 degrees and maintain it for a relatively low input of energy, meaning less use of electricity and better for the environment.

Swim School Air Venting and Heating

For greater Pool Deck comfort we ensure plenty of fresh air is coming into the building. During the warmer months of the year fresh air is blown into the pool are via a duct or bulkhead and grilles and then exhausted through the opposite end of the pool area. When the weather becomes cooler, we are able to heat this are and deliver it into the pool hall the same way, keeping swimmers warm and to reduce condensation.

Through State Swim's involvement in the Aquatic Education Industry for over 40 years, and through the construction of at least 10 Aquatic education facilities, we have extensive knowledge in effective water and air treatment for indoor aquatic facilities.
